Hi,
I have notebooks 1.1.1 on Mac OS 10.10.1 I'm trying to sync my notebooks between my laptop and phone. I go to Preferences > Notebooks Server and have the server on. I take the details from that page e.g., server url, username and password and enter them into my iPhone app
on my iPhone app > Settings > Import, Export, Sync> I have everything disabled except WebDav. in the webDAV screen I've entered everything from the Mac NoteBook Server page, I've left Directory Blank (On my computer my Notebooks home is the default: Users//Documents/Notebooks) I've activated SyncMoves & Deletes. Nothing happens. i don't get a notification on my mac to allow incoming requests, and the notes don't sync. I've also tried entering Documents/Notebooks but still nothing.
Any ideas?
Thanks Alfons for your very helpful response below. Removing .local from the URL got it to sync when I selected "Sync-WebDAV" from the action menu. Of course, I recommend that you adjust the example URL in the Settings page or providing some comment on the possible need of omitting it for the benefit of other users.
Hi Jim,
my first recommendation would be to upgrade to Notebooks 1.1.2, which also fixes a few issues on Yosemite.
Then there are a few things you can check:
- after starting the Notebooks server, try connecting to it from Finder ("Connect to Server") to verify that the server is running and reachable.
- if it is not reachable through Finder, try to skip the ".local" part that is given in the server address.
- when you are able to connect to the server from Finder, enter the same details in Notebooks on your iPhone
- sync from iPhone does not happen automatically, so you need to select "Sync - WebDAV" from a book's action menu. A popup should appear and report the progress - or an error, if Notebooks is unable to connect.
I hope these tips help you sync Notebooks between your devices.
Best,
Alfons
