Notebooks for iPhone Answers

Sync back to iphone

Anonymous, November 29, 2009 14:23

Using mobile me, a created book in notebooks syncs to my

idisk. When I make changes to that document on my mac and then sync the iphone, it creates a new book titled "g". The note is in this new book but it is blank with the text:

Not Found: Resource does not exist.

Am i doing this correctly?

Thank you for this report.

The behaviour you see is not how it is supposed to be. It sounds like the directory path for MobileMe is mixed up in some way.

Would you please check your WebDAV settings and make sure that the Server field is empty? Notebooks automatically takes care of that for MobileMe.

What have you entered into the Directory field?

Alfons

server field is empty, deleted what I had in directory, and tried again. In my idisk directory, I now have a folder Notebooks, in which is the book I created, in which is the .txt note I created. Do I open that from there to make changes and then it will sync back to the phone next time? Or is there another process to edit the note on my mac? Thank you so much for your help with this. I am looking for an app that will allow my wife to work on her book from our imac, powerbook or iphone, this seems like the trick if I can get it to work.

I think I've got it, if I sync Notebooks in general instead of the created book everything seems to work.

 Hi Jeff,

to answer your previous question:  Notebooks synchronizes its changes with the iDisk; when you want to make changes to a document from your Mac, you open it directly from the iDisk and save the changes back. The next time you synchronize the changes will appear in Notebooks. - If you make changes in Notebooks, a sync will transfer these changes back to the iDisk ...

Now regarding the other issue: it is good to hear that sync works from the top level, but in fact, sync should work from any book as well; this is to let you select which parts of Notebooks you want to sync.

Could it be that your book has any special characters in its title?

Best,
Alfons

Alfons,

I had an apostrophe in the title of her book. Renamed, sans apostrophe, and it is working wonderfully. When she gets it published we'll heap praise upon the usefulness of Notebooks!
