Can the row of extra keyboard keys be customized?

diana, October 21, 2011 05:26

As a writer, I'd like the main keyboard to have punctuation marks such as comma, period, quotation marks, dash, question mark, etc. Is there some way of modifying the extra/top row to replace existing keys with punctuation marks of my choice?

Thanks!

Dear Diana,

currently there is no option to customize the extra keys, but we have that on our todo list. I cannot promise if that will be part of the next update, though...

Kind regards,
Alfons

Too bad! That's the only feature that makes me need to use a writing app other than Notebooks on my iPod Touch, as everything else about your app is excellent. Is there any way I can be alerted when extra key customization is included in an update ('cos I'll certainly make the switch then)?

Thanks,
Diana

Hi Diana,

please excuse my delayed response ...

Whenever an update is available, the App Store app on your iPod touch will alert you, and each update has a brief description of what is now. Alternatively, you could subscribe to the news feed of our website, where we announce the availability of updates as well.

Best,
Alfons

Please can I second this request! Just about everything I write needs double or single quotes and at the moment they are two keypresses away.

Thanks very much!
