Line Feed Problem

Thank you for your useful app, but I have one problem.

I usually edit a text file on my Mac with CR (Mac) or CR+LF (Windows) line endings.
However, after syncing, editing the file on Notebooks for iPad, and syncing back again, the line endings have always changed to LF (UNIX).

Is there any way to get around this?

Hi,

the explanation for this is that iOS is based on Unix, and when editing a text file, the iOS automatically adds the Unix-style line breaks. On a Mac, however, this should never be a problem, because OS X is prepared to handle LF properly. TextEdit and other editors are able to handle this without problems.
On Windows, it might be necessary to use an application that is "LF aware"; the free Notepad++ should have no issues.

From within Notebooks there is no way around this at the moment. To look at it from the positive side: the fact that NB uses the Unix style at least provides a common base and there is no confusion between Mac and Win styles ... ;-)

Hi.
Thank you for your kind replay.
Now I understand it's not a Notebook-specific problem and iOS is to be blamed.

I myself find no problem with this.
But sometimes I inadvertently send a text file with LF to a novice Windows user, and then hope he or she knows how to handle it.

However, yes, I'll look at it positively for the time being.
Thank you again.
May the iOS 5 be with Notebook. :)
