I am considering to buy your application. One feature for me it's essential, the ability to highlight my notes. Is that possible?

There are more answers to your question:
1) in plain text documents, highlighting will never be possible
2) in formatted documents (HTML), highlighting will be available soon
3) the same is true for PDF documents
