Notebooks for iPhone Answers

What is wrong when Dropbox sync is sometimes uncomplete ?

michel, May 21, 2011 19:40

I regularly lose notes with Dropbox sync under the following conditions:
- a new note created on top level and moved to subfolder.
After first sync with Dropbox the new note stays visible in Notebooks but does not appear in Dropbox.
After second sync with Dropbox the new note also disappears in Notebooks and does never appear in Dropbox.
- or some existing notes in which only some word are modified are not synced through Dropbox when syncing all Notebooks in top level. I need to sync the sub-book containing the modified note to make changes being reflected !
This problem only happens on iPhone4 with Notebooks Vers.4.1.3.
This problem does not exist on iPad1 with Notebooks Vers.2.1.3.
Thank you for your helpful advice.

Hello Michael,

I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with Dropbox. What you describe is not a common issue, because in both situations, the chances you make in Notebooks should be reflected on Dropbox. So I think we need to look at your setup more closely.

My suggestion would be this:

- at the top level of Notebooks, create a new note with the title "Notebooks Log"
- restart Notebooks
- make any changes that from your experience are not synced to DB and then sync. Notebooks will now collect status information in this log file
- when finished, please send the contents of "Notebooks Log" to notebooksapp(at)me.com and also note which document you have modified

From that we should be able to reproduce what is wrong.

Kind regards,
Alfons
