Is it possible to save Markdown documents in plain text instead of HTML?

Saving them in HTML breaks Scrivener syncing.

Hi,

you are correct, converting the documents to Markdown breaks Scrivener sync, because Scrivener only looks at plain text documents. So you should leave these documents as txt documents, and if you want to add Markdown markers, you should probably do so by typing them manually (using one of the extra keys trigger an automatic conversion).

If you already have converted documents you can select "Copy as Plain Text" from the action menu.

Best,
Alfons

Scrivener sync is pretty important. Converting the files to html also breaks sync with any text-based program.

Would you consider adding a function that "previews" the note with Markdown formatting rather than actually converting the file to html? For example, nvAlt on the Mac has such a preview pane.

Regards.

Actually, formatted documents can be opened and edited in any text based program. Notebooks stores the "plain text" in the HTML document, and you are free to change that on your computer. When you sync the document back to Notebooks, the changes will be converted to HTML again.

We know, this is not ideal, but we think it is the best option (better than having two versions of the document). For "universal compatibility", plain text is still the only option ...
