Notebooks for iPhone Answers

WiFi sharing is not working with my 4th gen ipod touch

Playactor, January 26, 2011 19:22

Notebooks 4.02
IOS 4.2.1

Sharing worked yesterday. Today, pressing the sharing button, it turns blue and Notebooks freezes until I force quit the app. Tried rebooting ipod, reseting ipod, uninstalling and reinstalling Notebooks. Nothing fixes the problem.

Other apps work fine sharing files over wifi.

Help, please. Thanks.

Hi,

could it be that another app, which is running in the background, is already using port 8080? You can find out by selectively terminating the apps in questions.

If that does not solve the issue, please activate Notebooks' logging mechanism and send us the output to notebooksapp@me.com. - Here is what you would do:

- at the top level of Notebooks, create a new note with the title "Notebooks Log"
- restart Notebooks
- start WiFi sharing; Notebooks will now collect status information in this log file
- force quite Notebooks, reopen it, send us the contents of "Notebooks Log" and delete this note

This should help us find out what is wrong.

Best,
Alfons

Thanks for your prompt response. The problem has cleared itself, after a number of resets. Now that it's working, there's nothing to log, but if it happens again, I'll do as you suggested. There are two other apps that have webdav servers. One uses port 8080, the other uses 4242.

Thanks for your support, and for writing such a great program. I use Notebooks constantly.
