Palm notes missing

Alba, December 13, 2010 14:20

Thank you for this app. I am transitioning from a Palm IIIc to iPod Touch 4G (iOS 4.2) and recently purchased Notebooks (v 4.0.2). My computer is a MacBook Pro (MacOS 10.6.5).

I followed the directions to migrate my Palm Memos to the Notebook app. Everything seemed to proceed fine, including unzipping a matching number of memos (332 memos). The only hitch is that I had to give two memos a "title" in Palm Desktop before the migration.

However, some memos remain missing, even after exporting with UTF-8. Are there some special characters I need to convert besides the carriage return? I see a question here from Nov 2009 indicating that this problem has largely been resolved in the newer version of Notebooks, but I wanted to check. Thank you.

Hi Alba, we have not had any reports regarding Palm memos in a while, so we are not aware of any new issues.

The quickest option to find out which notes might cause an issue would be by looking at Notebooks' log file. Here is what you could do:

- at the top level of Notebooks, create a new note with the title "Notebooks Log"
- restart Notebooks and tao on the imported .palm file
- if you then open the log file and scroll down you should see the titles of all notes that have been imported; you should also see if there was a problem.

if you want us to take a look at that you can send that file to notebooksapp@me.com

When done, please delete the "Notebooks Log" again.

Thank you for your help. I have just sent you a copy of the "Notebooks Log".
