How can I turn off the alert notification on a task?

I would like to turn off the audio alert on a task. I see where I can set the time, but not where I can turn-off or disable the alert entirely.

you are right, while you can set an alert time it is not possible to clear it; we obviously have overlooked something here ...
As a workaround, you could clear the due date and set it again; this resets/clears the alert time.
