MobileMe sync hangs at 'Getting Index from Server'

Hi,

As the subject suggests, I can't get MobileMe sync to work.

The details are:
iPad iOS 3.2.2
Notebooks for iPad 2.0.1
WebDAV settings:
Description: MobileMe (grey default)
Server: https://idisk.me.com/ (grey default)
Directory: Documents/Notebooks (grey default)

I've tried two different MobileMe accounts, and made sure that the username and password are correct (and that the Server setting updates correctly with the username), but every time I try to sync a book, I get the 'Getting Index from Server' pop-up, and that's all. I've tried leaving it for a while, but nothing further happens.

Can you suggest anything else I could try?

Hi Peter,

this was a known issue with earlier versions of Notebooks but should have been fixed in 2.0.1. It seems that Notebooks is trying to sync the whole contents of your iDisk, which takes very long and rarely finishes successfully. So let's see:

- you have entered you username without "@me.com", correct?
- although Notebooks should take care of this automatically, please make sure that the directory "Notebooks" exists in the "Documents" folder on your iDisk. Then, manually enter "Documents/Notebooks" into the directory field in the WebDAV settings and try to sync again.

I hope this helps.

Hi Alfons, thanks for the quick reply.

To confirm, the username I entered does NOT have "@me.com".

I created the "Notebooks" folder inside the "Documents" folder on my iDisk, and then manually entered "Documents/Notebooks" into the Directory field in the WebDAV Settings (although I notice that this is changed to "/Documents/Notebooks" when I leave and re-enter the Settings panel, if that matters)

"Sync Moves & Deletes" and "Sync System Files" are both off, "Reset Sync History" is disabled.

I've also tried deleting the app from my iPad and re-installing it.

No luck though, I still just get the "Getting Index from Server" dialog, and nothing else. Any other suggestions?

BTW, I did try connecting to https://idisk.me.com//Documents/Notebooks through Finder, and that's OK.

... but you did not enter anything into the server field yourself, did you?

To find out what is wrong or where the process gets stuck, please try this:

- at the top level of Notebooks, create a new note with the title "Notebooks Log"
- restart Notebooks and try to sync. Notebooks will now collect status information in this log file. You can stop the process after a few moments
- when finished, please send the contents of "Notebooks Log" to notebooksapp@me.com and delete the note

I hope this will tell us what is going on.

...no, I didn't change the server field.

I've successfully obtained a log (nice feature, btw!), I'll email it to you.

Thanks,
Peter.
