I bought notebooks for iPhone but what I really meant to buy is notebooks for iPad is there a way I can upgrade and just pay the difference in price?

sorry to hear that you bought the "wrong" version. There is nothing that I can do for you directly, because you bought the app from Apple. However, if you contact them and tell them that you purchased the wrong app, they will very likely give you a refund.
