How can I sort the notes in a Book

Public, August 05, 2010 07:52

I have a number of date ordered notes (the date is the first line of the note & its title) it is not necessarily the entry date. I want themto be listed in date order most recent first. How can I do this please?

Hi Russell,

you can change the sort order by tapping on the "A-Z" button that is shown at the top of the list. You find more about it here: http://www.notebooksapp.com/Help.html

Thanks for that, I can see that that works, but it's a bit tedious. I'm updating beekeeping records on the move and have adopted the convention that the first line of the record is the date - which becomes the title. Could the sort function not recognise title as dates and sort them in date order? Russell

Hi again,

detecting a date is a good idea, but considering the diversity of date formats that need to be checked, this would considerably slow down the application.

My suggestion would be to use one of Notebooks' sortable timestamps (like 2010-08-11, but you could add that manually as well, of course) as the first like, which, when sorted by alphabet, always yields the correct order.
