Renaming URL's

My main selling point was the cross referencing and indexing capabilities. Can the URLs between notes and notebooks be shorter than that long string?

Notebooks stores is notes and documents in the file system, so the URL needs to contain the full path and cannot be any shorter. The advantage is that you immediately see which object is referenced.
(The situation is different with applications that store documents in databases, as they only need a numeric descriptor. This makes URLs shorter, but also unreadable ...)
