Photographs

Hi,

There appears to be a problem in connection to printing photos that are embedded in notes and wondered if there is solution. The photos display fine in the Notebooks app, but when printed to PDF through Save2PDF or sync'ed to Dropbox they are replaced by a placeholder box with a question mark. It should be mentioned that with the Dropbox sync option all photos are uploaded as well. When notes are emailed the photos are tagged to the end of the note text, rather than their original position within the note.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Nick

Dear Nick,

the problems you describe all connected to the same (iOS) limitations, more or less. The photos that appear embedded in a note are stored as separate documents. Now, when you send a document go Save2PDF, Notebooks can only send the text, but not the embedded photos, and Save2PDF is unable to access those photos stored within Notebooks (this is an iOS limitation).

When you email such a note, the iOS currently does not allow us embed the photos in their original locations, so the only option is to append them at the end. This is a well known limitation and I hope Apple will take care of this.

Now, what sounds unusual is that the photos are not displayed correctly when viewing a document from the Dropbox folder, because we tried to make sure that this works as expected. The question mark indicates that the browser is unable to locate the photo. - You could try and take a look at the source code of an HTML document to see which photo should be displayed; maybe this gives you a hint about what is wrong. If you want, we can continue this troubleshooting by mail.

Best,
Alfons
