Import *.palm into iPod/Touch lost notes... lost category...

Anonymous, November 04, 2009 19:11

iPod/TOUCH version 3.0;

Notebooks version 2.7

PalmDesktop has 9 categories with total of 79 notes

Tab delimited file look CORRECT for Tabs; I do have some long Note Titles; some special characters such as *, :, - , / and more...

Are there any limitations for SOURCE NOTE format and special characters?

Hello Russ,

thanks a lot for your feedback. In version 2.7 there are in fact a few limitations that keep Notebooks from successfully importing all Palm memos.

Before I go into detail let me say that Notebooks 3 is just on its way to the App Store, and thanks to user feedback these limitations have been eliminated.

Here is what may cause trouble in Notebooks 2.7:

  1. A memo does not contain any returns and is written as "one line". - This is the most frequent reason for failure, but can be easily corrected by making sure that the memo has at least one return within the first 250 characters.
  2. Categories contain "/". This by default is interpreted as a subdirectory and leads to failure. The remedy is to replace "/" by another character.

As stated above, this has been fixed and will not cause any troubles for Notebooks 3.0 and later.

I you need further assistance, please let me know at notebooksapp@me.com

Kind regards,

Alfons
